Grief can be an overwhelming and complex experience, and finding the right support is essential for healing. As a certified grief educator with extensive training in end-of-life care, basic hospice care, and experience as a hospice volunteer, I offer compassionate and individualized grief counselling for adults. My approach provides a safe and supportive environment where you can express your feelings, explore your emotions, and navigate the grieving process at your own pace. Together, we will work towards understanding your unique grief journey and finding meaningful ways to honour your loss while moving towards healing and renewal.

Understanding the Impact of Grief

Grief is a profound emotional response that can infiltrate every aspect of our lives, affecting our physical health, emotional well-being, relationships, and even our sense of identity. It’s not limited to the loss of a loved one; grief can arise from various life transitions and experiences, including a major health diagnosis, the end of a significant relationship, or changes in one’s career. This pervasive nature of grief can leave us feeling isolated, overwhelmed, and disconnected from our daily lives.

There are different types of grief that individuals may experience. Anticipatory grief occurs when we expect a significant loss, such as in the case of a terminal illness diagnosis. Unacknowledged or disenfranchised grief arises when our society does not recognize the legitimacy of our loss, such as the grief experienced after pregnancy loss or the death of a pet. Transitional grief encompasses the emotional turmoil that accompanies life changes, like moving to a new city or retiring from a long-held career. Each type of grief is unique, but all can have a profound and lasting impact on our lives. Understanding and acknowledging these different forms of grief is a crucial step in the healing process.

A Certified Grief Educator is committed to providing you with the highest level of grief support through education, experience, and insights into the often unacknowledged rocky terrain of grief. When you work with a Certified Grief Educator, you can be confident that they have completed a certificate program designed by world-renowned grief expert, David Kessler, to bring his unique methodology, tools, and decades of experience to help you on your healing journey. The Grief Educator Certificate program provides intensive training and practical tools for supporting those experiencing grief.
